Katherine Masterson

Hi, my name is Katherine Masterson, I’ve been a postnatal / postpartum doula for nine years, providing loving, caring, evidence-based support to many families, each being very unique, with different parenting philosophies and circumstances. My inspiration for this work came after I gave birth to my daughter in San Francisco 20 years ago. Being away from the support of family and friends was incredibly hard. From this experience, I have a deep understanding of how important it is to be rested and supported postpartum.

Many of us lead unbelievably busy lives these days and have no family support. I am here to cover the gap in care that exists for many families have and to make sure you feel nurtured, encouraged and supported the whole way. I’m also a trained infant sleep consultant and I have extensive experience in lactation support and bottle feeding. I can provide you with all tips and tricks you need to make your journey easier.

I love that this job allows me to combine evidence-based support with the intuitive compassion of parenthood.

What is a Doula?

A postpartum doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to new parents in the weeks and months following childbirth. The postpartum period can be a challenging time for new parents, and a postpartum doula can offer much-needed help and guidance.

Research shows that parents and babies are more likely to thrive during the postpartum period when strong support is in place. You don’t have to struggle alone – we are here to stand by your side.

​

Doulas are not medical professionals but, when needed, we will provide you with a medical referral. Our work complements that of a midwife and doctor, giving you and your baby the holistic care you deserve.
